ABOUT PAVAN KUMAR VARMA SHORT FILM DIRECTOR
Pavan is yet another BTech Engineering student who made his filmy dreams true with his short film "Devil is on Duty " . He choose a thriller genre to start his film career. As always SFIT encourages new talent and we we are featuring his Interview on www.shortfilmsintelugu.in an exclusive website for Telugu Short Films. Our team always tries to ask questions that would inspire upcoming Short film directors. Read this interview to know about Pavan and his journey to complete his first short film.
Question 1: TELL ABOUT YOU?
PAVAN VARMA: I was born in Amalapuram, but my family moved to Hyderabad in my early days and did my schooling and B.Tech in Hyderabad.
Question 2: AT WHAT AGE YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD BECOME A FILM DIRECTOR?
PAVAN VARMA: At age of 16 I thought of becoming a Film director as I started loving the process of making films.
Question 3: WHY DO YOU LIKE FILMS & SHORT FILMS?
PAVAN VARMA: I don't have a straight answer for it, but I just love films as much as I love my parents.
Question 4: HOW DID THE STORY OF "DEVIL ON DUTY" BORN?
PAVAN VARMA: Really I don't remember how it was born but the thought came nearly one year back.
Question 5: HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR TECHNICAL CREW?
PAVAN VARMA: Before starting movie we don't have any crew, we just started with two people, later my friends and cousins helped me form a team.
Question 6: WHAT SKILLS YOU LEARNED BEFORE MAKING A SHORT FILM?
PAVAN VARMA: Before movie I didn't learn any thing after movie I learn some skills from my mistakes
Question 7: IS THIS YOUR FIRST SHORT FILM OR HAVE YOU MADE ANY BEFORE?
PAVAN VARMA: Yes Devil is on duty is my first short movie
Question 8: HOW MUCH BUDGET WAS SPENT ON MAKING THIS SHORT FILM?
PAVAN VARMA: It costed us nearly 8 to 10 thousand rupees to make our short film.
Question 9: WHAT LESSONS YOU LEARNT AFTER DEVIL ON DUTY SHORT FILM?
PAVAN VARMA: I learned a lot about Camera and Lighting and understood how important editing is for a movie.
Question 10: WHAT QUALITIES SHOULD A SHORT FILM DIRECTOR HAVE?
PAVAN VARMA: As this was my first movie Sir I don't think I'm right person to describe qualities, but one quality that all directors should have is love and passion.
Question 11: WHAT CAMERA WAS USED TO SHOOT DEVIL ON DUTY?
PAVAN VARMA: We shot the short movie in Canon 500 D camera
Question 12: WHAT SOFTWARE WAS USED IN POST PRODUCTION ?
PAVAN VARMA: After effects and Adobe premier cs3 was used for our short film.
Question 13: WHAT IS YOUR NEXT PROJECT AND WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING?
PAVAN VARMA: Our next project is not confirmed sir but we are planning to shoot and release in next month
Question 14: HOW DID YOU PROMOTE YOUR SHORT FILM? WHO HELPED YOU?
PAVAN VARMA: We promoted our movie on Facebook, youtube through www.shortfilmsintelugu.in web site
Question 15: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GENRE & WHAT IS THE NEXT FILM GENRE?
PAVAN VARMA: I like to watch all types of genre and I'm not fan to particular type of genre. In near future I'm thinking to do a love story or message oriented movie.
